Introduction Here’s one thing you should know about Marlene’s Catering: Marlene does exist and that is her real name! Once upon a time, on the southwest side of Chicago, Marlene lived her fairytale too. She met a handsome man named Richard while working at the counter of her sister’s restaurant. Richard, when not swooning over Marlene, assisted at his parents’ butcher shop nearby. It was a match made in heaven. After many years of outside catering at various venues, Richard came up with the idea of an in-house banquet facility… now known as The Landmark. Amenities
History The Landmark was transformed from the old Chicago & Joliet railway car barn. The historical building recalls a colorful interurban era from 1901 to 1933 along Archer Road. In the 1950’s the building became known as Club Elgin, a dime-a-dance hall. The last use was by a beer distributor before becoming The Landmark in 1970. 6800 S.
